PURPOSE + FOCUS

WE mobilze volunteers into their cities to build personal relationships that enrich the lives of those being served– and the lives of those who serve.

WE do this by connecting communities with local nonprofits who share missional alignment.

our 5 Key Areas of Focus for Relief and Development are:

- Racial Reconciliation
- Homelessness
- addiction & Mental Health
- Women’s Health & Child Advocacy
- Anti-Human Trafficking Advocacy

MEASURABLE IMPACT

Reducing the impact we HAVE made together in the lives of the marginalized down to "the numbers” falls short when measuring things like transformation, healing and hope. How can we measure the power of love into a spreadsheet?
With that said, when it comes to “the numbers” at For The City, what we see is a clear picture that there are a lot of good people– people like you– who care deeply and are helping the marginalized in their cities
The FOLLOWING numbers offer a glimpse into the scale and reach of For The City in the United States:

15,170 Volunteers

5,503 Faith-based Leaders

272NonProfitS

209 Business Partners

10Hubs in the US

HIStory

For The City is a community of practice made up of thousands of good people just like you. We come from businesses, nonprofits and faith-based organizations across the country.

Founded in 2009 as a grassroots outreach to serve the marginalized in Austin, TX, For The City grew into a national movement in less than a decade.

After the pandemic hit, ownership of For The City was transferred over to The 405 Center in OKC. For The City then relaunched in October 2021, and is now under the leadership of Taylor Gahm and Dru Dodson.

For The City remains committed to its founding mission to serve the marginalized in our cities. Join us in this new season as we “discover what it means to be a community of practice, to serve the marginalized in this world, and to let God love us as we are- and not as we should be.”

OKC HUB
(a.k.a. The 405 Center)

known locally as “The 405 Center” (after their 405 area code), the OKC Hub serves as our NATIONAL headquarters. Here is a little background on the OKC Hub (A.K.A. The 405 Center):

+ Grew from 1 church, 3 NonProfits, and 30 volunteers in 2016– to 30 churches (30x), 60 nonprofits (20x), over 2,500 volunteers trained (83x)!

+ Trains & Equips Volunteers instead of “sign-up and send”. (Contact us to learn more about virtual training).

+ Developed deep ties with the OKC Homeless Alliance. Recipient of grants from Walmart, Homeland Grocery, and others.

+ Created the Monarch Music Festival, fed 400 “friends who live outside” (a.k.a. homeless), and attracted 2,000 concert goers– including the Mayor of OKC.
